About Erik
After studies in The Netherlands (with Aurelia Saxophone Quartet members Arno Bornkamp and Johan van der Linden) Erik Abbink moved to Canada where he is currently working on his DMA degree with saxophonist Julia Nolan.
In Holland Erik performed frequently with such ensembles as the Helikon Saxophone Quartet, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, Combustion Chamber Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic and all major Dutch Military Bands.
He recently started working on his DMA thesis "The History of the Saxophone in Western Canada" which he hopes to complete in the spring of 2010.
Duo Strand Abbink
Pianist Nola Strand and saxophonist Erik Abbink started working together in the summer of 2009 and are looking forward to their first public appearance in the fall, later this year.

Vis á Vis is a saxophone quartet based on Canada’s west coast on Vancouver Island. The members of Vis á Vis are classically trained performers who enjoy playing in a variety of styles from early to contemporary music, and they are remarkably versatile, having eclectic interests from classical compositions to works with pop and jazz influences.
The members of the Vis á Vis are:

- Erik Abbink - baritone
